Kyocera Solar is one of the largest solar pv module manufacturers in the world.

Kyocera (a combo of Kyoto and ceramics) Corporation was founded in 1959 in Kyoto, Japan. The company manufacturers a wide variety of ceramic and electronic devices including; imaging equipment, mobile phones, semiconductor packages, audio components, and dental equipment to name just a few.

In 1975 the company created its solar division as a response to the 1970s energy crisis. Since then the company has become one of the largest vertically integrated producers of solar pv modules and systems. The company’s U.S. headquarters is in Scottsdale, Arizona. It’s production facilities are located in Mexico, Japan, China, and the Czech Republic. Kyocera also has offices located worldwide.

2. Efficiency: The company has achieved 19 percent for their Polycrystalline cells with plans to bring that number up to 22 percent.

Kyocera has developed a philosophy called “Kaizen” which is a commitment to continuous improvement. The company also utilizes a true vertical integration structure called “Chain of Custody”. This allows the company to achieve control over every step of the manufacturing process.

  • Tested by the Desert Knowledge Australia Solar Centre. Kyocera had the highest output compared to other brands.
  • First module to pass long term sequential testing by TUV Rheinland.
  • Long-Term Sequential Test – tests for thermal cycling, humidity freeze, damp heat, and bypass diode.

Kyocera is also proud of their proven solar panel longevity. Case in point is their Sakura Solar Energy Center. This is the site of a 43kW system that was installed in 1984. As of 2010, the system is still producing energy at an amazing 90 percent efficiency.
